XTS2500 UHFII Dash Mount M5 Control Head w/HSN4032 speaker
On keypress the speaker makes an audible pop and in RX state it also pops on unsquelch and resquelch.
I suspect the ground leads may have been grounded or shorted at some point and replaced the audio amp IC, but the problem persists.

Re: XTL5000 and UCM Problems
I've had a similar issue, but it was with the carrier board I took from a W series XTL5000.
Apparently they made a later revision carrier that you need (unconfirmed). Moto P/N: PHLN6918C
(P/N: MHLN6918B Should work too)

Hey Jim, I took Dan's advice and had the VRS aligned.
The RX had drifted as he described.

Bringing up a bit of an old topic here, but I think its more appropriate than starting a new thread.
Can I get away with using a standard DPDT switch and only switching PTT and MIC HI (sharing GND and MIC LO)?

Dan
TX audio from the VRS is a bit low, but it's usable.

XTL5000 With VRS750
The setup: XTL5000 VHF 110W with VRS750 w/ Option W492AG The issue: Can hear VRS750 audio from portable (low) on XTL speaker, but it won't actually key the mobile radio. CPS VRS frequency/bandwidth/PL settings are right, vrs turns on and everything on the mobile to portable side works as expected. S...

Re: radio locked
LAPD are very protective with their equipment. They don't sell their radios.
Surplus radio equipment is destroyed and any unit on the out of agency hands is probably stolen.

Re: UHF XTS3000 deaf when not on scan
Your squelch type is wrong.
Its in the Personality menu either in General or RX options (I can't recall and my toughbook battery is being recalibrated at the moment).
There will be a pull down menu called squelch type. Change that value from 'AND' to 'OR'.
That should resolve your issue.

Re: VRS 750 and VRS EP Help Hooking Up
It seems like they have disabled it in the more recent firmware. IIRC, the earlier versions of CPS allowed you to configure the VRS750 or VRS-EP. It seems to have been phased out now, leaving users with only the Futurecom DVRS. It also appears that you need Option W492AG (printed on label) in order ...

Re: Can a mic be used from the rear of an 05 control head?
It was never designed to plug the mic into the back of the head like on the spectras (looked much better that way). Regardless, I did get it to work on an install by removing the plug in USB port from the CHIB, going through the back of it and directly soldering the mic wires onto the back of the GC...

Never had issues with the other part number displays or even vocon boards. They all seem to work as you described.
Just ordered some more displays last week and Motorola have changed the part number AGAIN!
New part #: 72009264002

Re: XTL2500 FL01-90 Error Then Maintenance Mode
Old Part number was 5162852A79. If you have an older service manual, this is what you'll find. It has since been replaced by 5114000C11. I am still trying to figure out what the reference designator number is, since there are multiple components with the same part number (maybe they all need to be r...

From the main tree menu:
Trunking>
Trunking System>
700_800_900 Control Channels (or 700_800_900 ASTRO 25 Control Channels)
Hope that helps.

Re: Fail 001 OOB XTS5000?
I have noticed that the UHF Range 1 RF boards fall into two groups; Group 1: RX locks up to about 483-484 before it starts getting upset. TX lock is around the same. Group 2: RX locks past 510 without much trouble. TX lock is good till about 483-484. Few notes: +Out of Band (OOB) operation may be po...
