This may be a bit off topic, however is the display easily replaced on the XTS3000's? I was poking around and found a few that the seller claims only the display is broken (I hope not much else) and could pick them up at a significant discount.

I don't have a lot of experience with P25, but I am skeptical that the DTMF tones will pass through the Analog to Digital to Analog process without too much distortion. ohh no, they won't supply it...

Thats for sure.

I didn't even think that they would discountinue DTMF when they go Digital. The sad thing is when I brought up how we were going to be alerted at the station they were dumbfounded...and hadn't even thought of that.

I have a Minitor 2 non-amp charger with the alert light on it. I just tapped into the alert LED power to drive a solid state relay. However then I would also still need a timed relay for this to work...and it would only work once, then have to be reset. Anyone know more about if I tap into a pin on...

All of the amplified chargers have an alert light, which illuminates when the pager decodes a valid tone set. So the contact pin already exists, as does some type of circuit that turns the light on. I can't say for sure but I would guess that all you need to do is hook a wire up to the right point ...

FYI I have one of these installed on my 06 Ford Escape Hybrid...really nice! It works well, takes about 30sec to heat it up hot enough to melt off all of the frost in one pass. Just like other hybrid vehicles, most everything that is carrying HV is either marked, colored, or wrapped in bright orange loom. You can easily tap into power by popping off the 120v inverter/12v plug. Within this void you will find a 12v tap that is ignition switched. The rear Cabinet is just mounted in the back, there is one slider tray, however is rarely ever used. The Cencom controller was mounted by removing the dash trim bezel. It is mounted using a piece of right angle metal, and secured under the dash trim, behind the radio.

Well Eric, I attended a training on Saturday where we went through a Hybrid Escape, and I can tell you for sure that there is a generator and that there isn't any invertor. Sorry to insult your trainingness...I know there is a generator in the car that recharges the HV battery when braking or idlin...

I drive one, and everything that is a HV line is coated in orange wireloom. Ohh I agree we need a Paramedic Flycar. We used to have a dodge grand caravan AWD...which actually worked very well. I just don't agree with the "Hybrid" mentality with it. I think I have a bit of a right to say this too since I own a Escape Hybrid myself...I just get better mileage than 1...

There was a unit out a few years back that used the vehicles engine cooling system to heat a small water tank that had the washer fluid running through it in a series of coils. If I ran a system check through the "avionics cluster" it would come up, however if I was not using the highbeam, it would not illuminate....however we never left it on for an extended period of time. Would the flasher make the high beam indicator lamp come on? That may freak out the system.
