XTS3K PTT repair
How hard is it to fix the external button? The large black oval on one radio I have 'flaps' from the back forward. I have it taped down now so it doesn't flop open, get caught on something, and rip off completely. But, want to repair it correctly. Can one buy just the button 'cover'? The button othe...

Re: Radio Locking Legality
Funny story, vollie group I'm in, I've inherited the job of "radio guy" after the previous tech quit to join up a competing vollie group (that's a whole long dramatic soap opera). Anywho, I had updated all the channel line ups after he left after the admin board decided on the change. But,...

Works. Oh well, that problem's fixed. Now, the no audio to the interior speaker.... will talk to the original pr...

Re: W9 Astro Spectra, which siren parts needed??
Just to make sure it was none of the sys9000 parts that are the problem, I tested all on an existing/working setup. The amp, cable, DEK, and DEK interface cable all work.
Are there certain Spectras that can't have this added? (IE, not in firmware/flash code?) Or are all setup for it.

Yes, says Astro on the lable too. And, if I have to use the DEK, I have the cable to connect to the W9.rwo978 wrote: Amp PN is HLN1185E, DEK PN is HLN1241D, and Cable PN is HKN4363C.

Fro a basic setup, you need the control head, the amp, the phone style cord to connect the control to the amp, and the 12 pin white plug. The 12 pin incdues wires like and ignition power wire and ground to turn the amp on, speaker wires, and wiring for additional functions like siren park kill, horn...

Depending on the type of setup you have, you can get by with 2 "remote" mount control heads, one for your radio (Spectra, Kenwood 30 or 90 series...) and one head for you lights/siren/arrow (Smart Siren, CenCom, RLS, HHS2100...). There are options out there. The thing with the Spectra radi...

I'll sacrifice something I rarely use (PA) for more functions of another model.
The one time I had to use the PA of a Sys9000 for a Felony stop, the dumb thing wouldn't stop squealling no matter how much I turned it down......... I ended up throwing the mic on the seat and yelling.

You can make any lightbar quick disconnect with the aid of trailer plugs. Just don't run any more than 2 lights/rotators per wire, so you'll need a few plugs if you get the whole pimped out she-bang.
