Windows QCII encoding software?
Hi,
Just thought I'd see if anyone knew of a program for Windows to generate QCII tones using soundcard?
Also, has anyone tried this and what were the results like?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Try cool edit 96 it is a freeware program for one version. It is nice as you can make your own tones as well as it has a left and right channel audio layout.
That way you can put a splitter in the line and run the audio from the left channel to one radio and do the same for the right audio channel.
That way if you have to page over to different freqs like we do for fire and ambulance you can simul-page at the same time.
I think I did a google search for it or I went to downloads.com and got the program there.
It also works great for decoding tones also but depending on how you copy the tones may give you a minor issue.
Example: The paging tone was 979.9 Hz but the tone was decoded at 982.4 Hz So have a tone chart and know your code plan.

This is a repost.
There has been a lenghty discussion on doing this posted here before - with a number of referances to different programs and methods. Seaching for Cooledit should bring the thread up.

Mancow-
Not a lot out there that decodes MDC1200, but Midian does have something. They call it their CAD software. Computer Automated Dispatch. FAR from that, but it DOES decode it, to some degree. Check their website, to see the descriptions of the different packages. Tney sell a proprietary modem for the computer. I imagine a crafty guy could...
