"net" Differences?

Post by WE9C »

I recently came across a "net" that I hadn't heard of before...
Can anyone direct me to or explain the differences between
SmartZone, Smartnet, Omnilink and the one that caused my question
Starnet? :-?

Thanks!

After a quick look around, I found this: http://www.ukmidlandscanner.co.uk/trunked.htm From that page it sounds like it might be a UK implementation of Smartzone.

I don't know what area you are from, but in Houston STARNET refers to a large Smartzone system for Harris County and numerous other agencies.

The named it STARNET for Southeast Texas Area Radio Network.

This link went to an excellent trunking/Astro course by Motorola itself. I'm just getting a bunch of HTML crap when I click on it now, but it may be my browser's problem. Let me know if it works for you.

Otherwise, this is a good place to start learning:

Where did you hear the term starnet from? That may explain what they were talking about.

For those trying to help, sorry for the delay, have been out of state...
:-?
Went back and rechecked... here is what was found...
SPECTRA 800mhz unit D45ZXA5JC7AK, ? Securenet,
And I guess I am looking for "Starsite" instead of starnet....
It has System Search and lock (which I have not delt with before...)
:)
So, maybe someone might recognize this one... Sorry for the confusion!
