adding trunk personalities past 50 ?

i have the astro port cps and cannot add more than 50 trunking
personalities on screen. when im at the 50th personality the
plus + icon dissapears in the box and i cant figure out why this
happens. when radio is read it says 254 max channels/talkgroups,
when i click on the box it cannot be changed. i have astro saber 3

my city has a 2 system smartzone ,10 site communic structure,
they have many,many talkgroups for public safety,city depts, ect...
i thought a astro saber 3 could take 254 different talkgroups max like
254 conven channels. im not trying to put 50 systems in: just more
than 50 talkgroups .. the cps wont let me put more than 50 trunked personalities in, i thought the personalities are just talkgroups,
the radio wide config box has 254 in it when radio codeplug read..
i hope im doing this right..

If you need to put in more than 8 control channels, program the system as a Smartzone, add in your control channels, then change the coverage type to Wide Area Coverage. You will keep the all the data channels you entered.

Nope but if you know what sites the first eight control channels are from, make your site alias list follow the same sequence. ie data channel 1 is from Pravada, data channel 2 is Shilo, then make you alias list follow as site 1 Pravada, Site 2 Shilo....

thanks for all your imputs,
its a smartzone 2 sytem,10 simulcast sites 15 chan each system.
the systems are in same coverage area with 1 system set up for
most public services and fire dept commun. the second system is
dedicated for police and ome ops,as the pd will do a lot of talking !
system "a" has a control channel and so does sys "b" they are
tied in as a smartzone config. im told some talkgroups will be
on both systems and others only on there preferred sites,
so do i need #1,to program BOTH systems in the radio or just one
because some talkgroups are set up to broadcast on both systems
and others on there peferred site. like public works talkgroups wont
broadcast on system "b". and when i create a trunk system do i
program it as smartzone so the different talkgroups affilate with
the proper system in the smartzone setup.
#2 when programming with the cps will i be able to get more than
50 talkgroups in the radio (astro saber 3) when its read radio wide
it says max channs/t groups 254, so you would think i can squeeze
more tha 50 talkgroups as there is at least 105 set up .
im more than likely doing something wrong setting up talkgroups...
again im using this new cps not the dos software im used to......
