GM300 Programming Software and RIB

Post by railtrailbiker »

Our ham club has the software and RIB necessary to program all of our GM300's.

Question: what other Motorola radios should we be able to program without purchasing another RIB, or upgraded software?

Could we program a CM200/300?

The GM300 RSS is specific to only the GM300 models in all their variations. Programming a CM series would require a different RIB-to-radio cable and the CPS that supports the CM/CP/PM/PR series of radios. The RIB and RIB-to-PC cable are the only things that would remain the same.

If it's a Motorola RIB, it can be used to program just about any programmable Motorola radio. If it's a clone RIB, then it can vary...some can handle exactly the same radios as the Motorola RIB, others can only do certain ones.

Either way, just about every different model of radio has it's own RSS package. Specifically, the CM200/300 you mentioned uses a newer Windows based software for programming, and the programming cable is also different from the GM300.
