HT1250/750- Are RIB-LESS cables functional?

Post by AmbulanceDriver »

I have seen many RIB-LESS cables available on E-bay, sold by "kawacam". Item Title: RIB-less full Program Cable Motorola HT750 HT1250 GP328 (Item number: 5878772650)

I hope this does not violate any policies, I am not listing this info to try to sell anything, I am just trying to find out whether the type of cable listed above will actually be able to program an HT750/1250 radio.
I have asked some of the sellers, but I think there is a language barrier, as the simple questions don't seem to get answered in an understandable manner.

Does anyone know if a rib-less cable like that will be able to both READ and WRITE to a HT750/1250 radio? I have the software CPS Version R04.00.00. Assuming I bought this kind of cable, would I need anything else to program the radios??

I'd appreciate advice from anyone with any experience with this sort of cables.
Thanks,
Andrew Schulcz
If it ain't broke, then the supervisor hasn't seen it yet.

the quick answer is yes, the ribless cable will work for read and write. but, your cps is ancient and it probablly won't work if the radio has been programmed recently. i think the latest version it r06.05.

The latest version is now R6.06.00 passport R4.03.24. The CPS states that the latest firmware is 5.09 portable and 5.05 mobles.

I've seen some of those cables offered on eBay before and they are not so hot. Some don't mount up to the portables well and others just don/t work. When you buy from Hong Kong you have no recourse if you get a bum cable. They also ship out the wrong stuff regularly.

Read the feedbacks........

The only cables I use now are from wiscomm.com. Quality cables, multi-functions (one cable will work certain portables AND mobiles) and the price is good considering you get soemthing that works.

Motorola cables are at least twice the price of wiscomm.

i have used kawacam for cables for the ht1250 and i have not had a problem as well as my friends never had a problem.

for my ex600 i used a cable by wiscomm with a built in rib and i love it worth the extra money spent on it.
