5-Tone Signaling

Hi there,
I recently left the army and ended up in Iraq working with the Motorola GP/GM range. Only had a brief spell with these so only know the basics. I now have to set up and run a 5-Tone Signaling network but I'm lost!!!!
I believe its similar in theory to the HF SelCall system(????)
Can anyone advise where i can find info on the theory and some info on how to build and run said 5-tone network? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
