ISW WINDOW
What is the general rule of thumb on adjusting the ISW window? I know it differs per band but where is a good place to start? Do I need to use a service monitor etc?
If you have legit system keys loaded in the radio, the ISW will already be preset and should not require adjusting.
Whatever the RSS reports as 'default' is the best place to start, and this is usually a '1'.
That numeric value can change per system requirements, as well as admin's operation of the network as well.
Same goes for many radio base configurations, they are all set according to the network design, and system loading of fleets, subfleets, talkgroups and failsoft.....Blah Blah Blah....
But for proper operation of the radio in a trunking environment, you MUST use a trunking capable monitor, not just any will do as the monitor performs the task of a site controller to mimic the operation/s of a closed controller network so hand-offs, ISW/OSW, modulation, radio check/ACK and more...This can't be performed on something like an IFR 1500.
