R1225 PA upgrade to GM300

Post by KE7JFF »

Okay, so I got an R1225 repeater with of course a bad PA. Reading around here on batlabs, I see some people have gone to instead replace the bad PA with a GM300 PA. Since I have a few UHF GM300s laying around, I figure I would do the upgrade.

Is pretty much putting in a GM300 PA in a R1225 just like putting in a normal R1225 PA in these things? Anything to look out for or special?

Yes a FULL alignment of the TX PA section in the RSS/CPS.

The filtering in the R1225 PA is much better and no ant switch diodes to get upset in a high RF environment.

I will take the old R1225 PA.

Good to know!

And sorry, the PA is spoken for already by a friend.

Yes, I rebuild them in my spare time for replacement on some GM300 radios used as transmitters in repeaters.
