Post by CommunicationsAlways »

Since there is so much push for “Interoperability” between agencies and states by FEMA and DHS what does it really mean from experience, regarding;
FEMA/DHS Trucks type Incident Command Vehicle/s traveling across various states for major disasters? Smaller Command SUV vehicle with the addition of a small trailer for other extra items provided the necessary space?
From experience what are the weaknesses/cons and strengths/Pros of each?

SUV Examples;
Chevy Tahoe 2WD PPV, 4WD Special Service, Hybrid Municipal Package
Suburban Commercial Fleet 1FL
GM Yukon, Yukon XL

Enclosed Trailer/s;
4’ X 8’
5’ X 10’
4’ X 12’
5’ X 12”
etc…

Equipment;
Mobile Radios
Portable Radios
HF
VHF-Low
Air Band
VHF-Hi
UHF-1 & 2
700/800 MHz
Satellite comm. etc.
Charger/s
Extra Batteries, Battery AA Packs/Clamshell
Programming & Cloning Cables
Spare Antennas (Mobile & Portables)
Speaker Mic.
Listen Ear Pieces
Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier
Lights
GPS
Phones
etc…

If you would like to share picture/s upload/s, link/s of I.C. vehicles that would be great!

I know that labeled command vehicles can be magnets for the media when disasters occur.
