I know that before this was a topic that people knew was available and such and hell, I'm pretty sure /\/\ said it was available on the FLASHport model upgrade tutorial, but I'm wondering if upgrading an XTL1500 to 5000 is possible and if someone out there knows how. I just traded for an XTL1500 that needs to be flashed for what I want it to do anyways, but I figure if I can step it up to a different model so I can have a control head, I'd like to do that too.
Anyways, since the product line is discontinued, I'd thought I'd see if it was okay or if someone has the link to the tutorial /\/\ was talking about in the one I found.
Excuse the ignorance, but I'm very green in programming ASTRO radios, been using them for years, but haven't gotten to program them much. Any help would be appreciated, even if that's trading a radio. Just need one that does 800mhz P25.
Thanks.

The only legal model upgrade that I have ever seen is with rebanded XTS2500's where /\/\ would allow you to change, via a flashkey, from an RB XTS2500 to a standard XTS2500.
This change did things like increased the # of available modes and allowed for trunked & conventional P25. There are others ways as well, but I'm pretty sure that those secrets are kept close to the vest for those that have the capabilities.
/\/\ would much rather you buy a new radio than do a flashupgrade to make an XTL1500 to an XTL5000 anyday.

It can be done but not by means discussed on these forums.
