Motorola GP68 - adjusting squelch threshold - manual or RSS?

I have a VHF GP68 radio.
I have lowered the "User adjusted" squelch setting to "1" using the front keypad function but the threshold is still a bit high for very weak signals.
Does anybody know if the internal squelch threshold adjustment is via the tuning RSS or via a PCB pot?
I checked out an RSS tuning help page but it did not discuss all the RSS tuning options with no mention of squelch adjustment.
So is a GP68 like a GM300 where you tweak the SQ threshold using a PCB pot rather than using RSS?
