Hello,

Does anyone have any experiences with the Motorola R1225 Base/Repeater used as a base radio hooked into a Motorola CommandStar console. We are getting a new system with 12 channels and the R1225's. The other options are the MTR2000 but these are pricey.
If anyone has any comments please let me know. Thanks.

The R1225 is good inexpensive repeater. But using it as a BASE station is not necessary. You would be better off with a CDM1250. This will allow for all 12 of your frequencies to be selected from the console. FYI M1225 only allow for 8 frequencies to be steered from the remote.

How many CHANNELS (RADIOS) will you be connecting the console to.



P.S. Do not forget a tone remote adapter.

You can do 15 channels, with one as monitor, with the CDM.

Requires creative wiring, and such.

Thanks for the replies. In regard to the number of radios and/or channels hooked to the console, we are looking at an initial set up of 6 independent radios to hook into the console via the Dual channel control modules and expanding up to 12 radios. I had inquired about the use of a single MTR2000 (since it can be programmed with up to 32 channels) as to being used and utilizing 6 channels from the unit but I was informed that the ControlStar console could not be used in that capacity. Supposedly 6 independent radios have to be used. That is fine though as long as the R1225 radios can be mounted in a rack and the frequencies don't interfere with each radio (154 mhz to 158 mhz) in a simplex and semi-duplex mode. Anybody have any info on this? Thanks.

You have been misinformed. Yes, the CommandStar can handle up to 12 separate 'channels' or repeaters, but it can also handle up to 16 frequencies per channel!! Using the standard function tones, it can easily change between 6 channels on an MTR2000. There is no need for individual repeaters...unless you need to listen/transmit to all of them at the same time, and scanning may not be an option in the MTR2000.
