MSF5000 repeater and DES-XL

Post by n1pj »

I was reading that you can keyload DES-XL into a MSF5000 repeater and it will only pass transmissions that match the key. Do you have the ability to keyload any MSF5000 repeater or do you need a special verson of the MSF5000 repeater for encryption. Will any MSF5000 do transparent mode so you can pass both encryption and open transmissions. Is it possible to put a PL on the repeater. Thanks

What radios do you own?: APX / Astro 25 / Harris

If you want it to do proper code dected then you'll need the appropriate encryption hardware installed in the radio.

I think to function as a pass repeater is just a matter of programming if its a CXB digital station.

Yes you can program PL on the output.

If you want the station to have secure capability, it must have the optional secure board.

If you want to be able to keyload the station for encryption / decryption to and from the wireline as well as proper code detect as a repeater qualifier, the station must also be equipped with encryption hybrids which plug into the secure board.
