Hi ... I have no Motorola radio experience but just bought this radio on Ebay:

Motorola Spectra remote mount Model D44KXA7JA7BK UHF (403-433 mhz) 128 Channel, A7 full feature control head with DTMF Phone, 40 Watts, SECURNET, 25 kHz, PL, DPL, MDC1200, STAR, SCAN, PHONE.

Can this radio be programmed with ham frequencies up to 450 MHz without modification? If not, what do I need to do to use it on UHF ham frequencies?

Anyone in the Minneapolis (Bloomington/Edina/etc.) area who can help in exchange for some $?

Motorola Spectra mods...

Lots of info available on this subject. I suggest you start with our sister site
at http://www.Batlbabs.com under Model Specific Information.

In general, programmable Motorola radios do not like to go more than one (1)
mHz above or below their firmware-defined limits, but there are ways around
the question.

The long and short of it is that it can be done, but not without some hardware modification/replacement and RSS hacking.
