im looking (if possible) to find a dealer in massachusetts (metro boston area) that can upgrade my firmware from R03.01.03 to allow me mdc encode/decode in conventional..
i dont really care about extra channels, but its a full keypad and with my luck, i sell it and dont get a replacement 1250 with a full keypad for the same price...
please help me..

Yep, a regular firmware upgrade will not allow MDC operation in conventional mode. The only way to get it is to send it to Motorola to get the unit upgraded to an LS+ "7AN" model. You'll have to contact them for pricing, as it varies widely.
