Duff Motorola RIB Box

Post by Metradio »

For anyone who has purchased a light grey coloured Motorola RIB box off of eBay in the UK and found that it does not work with their RIB to Radio leads, this might be of help. The PCB inside the box is marked 'FVMaster', in their descriptions they say the RIB is pin-for-pin compatible with the Motorola RIB, well it would have been if the PCB had been fitted with 'male' 25 and 15 way connectors instead of the fitted 'female' connectors'. By using the connectors the only radio leads that will work are the ones they sell.. If you made your own radio lead using the Motorola (BatLabs) pin-outs, it would not work on this RIB because the pin numbers are reversed..

I bit the bullet and went to Maplin (a UK electronics store) and got a
right-angled 25 way male, de-soldered the 25 way female and replaced it
with the male. Tested it and it works a treat!! Have tried it reading
and writing on everything from a GP300 to an MT6000E..
