aprs home station, sound anoying

Now for the question:

I'm trying to setup up a motorola ( i have several pro7100,mcs2000,maxtrac100 and the mic pinouts are about the same) as a local iGate for aprs, now i find that when a connect the interface to the mic connector (rj45) it does not cut my speaker audio, it becomes annoying in about 60sec, anyway i can turn the audio off, with out cutting the physical wires to the front speaker of the radio....

sorry for the lame noob question, and i did try and search, but my skills are low,

You'll need to remove the jumper on the 16-pin connector.


If its a 5-pin, my recommendation is to just turn the audio down.

all good sugestions, but none of those will work on the pro7100 or the mcs2000...

You can try programming the option of HANDSET, I did that for my maxtrac that is my echolink radio. It works great.

You should be able to get the receiver audio from the handset pin in the mic jack or from the filtered RX audio pin in the Accy connector.

Then you can turn the volume up and down as needed for your speaker. The handset/filtered RX audio is NOT affected by the volume control.

We had a similiar issue using our UHF AVL system, what i did was program the RX frequency for a non-valid PL. It kept the speaker muted, but did not seem to affect the flat audio pins on the radios.

This was on a CDM1250
