TRBO, busy"channel" detection in digital mode

Hi all,
On a Trbo system running in digital mode (with repeater), I need to detect whether the "channel" (read time slot) is busy OR after PTT is asserted that I got a go-ahead tone.
I've upgraded the XPR4550 to the latest firmware 1.05. Anything I can find on the accessory connector for this type of function is "Analog Only" according to the latest CPS downloaded yesterday.
Motorola Tech Support first said CSQ works now in digital mode, but tried that... another call they say try PL/Talkgroup detect, that tells me that it's own talkgroup is talking, but not if another talkgroup is talking on the same assigned time slot.
Any ideas anyone?
