Re: XPR4550 vs XPR5550 - any real difference?
I have XPR6350/6550 and 7550 radios, and agree that the 7550's seem to have better sensitivity and performance, at least anecdotally, although with the large LCD the battery seems to drain quicker. I just got a couple of 6100's to test also. Does anyone know if these are "new generation" (...

Re: Strange XPR issue
So just a small update -- I did some further testing, programming analog channels for various frequencies and testing with another radio. The results are: 454.0 and lower - no rx, does tx but just transmits noise, no audio 455.0 works, but some static in background 460.0 and up works fine So it seem...

Strange XPR issue
So I'm having a strange issue with an XPR6300 UHF, Q model, that is working just fine (digital, analog) on frequencies > about 454 MHz, but seems to refuse to transmit anything (or weak, crackly signal) on anything lower. Doesn't seem like a standard tuning issue as it's bang on for frequencies abou...

Upgrading XPR4550 Firmware 01.00.00
I have an old Motorola XPR4550 with firmware 01.00.01, and am trying to work out how to update it to the latest firmware? The update package I have from MOL will only update radios with R01.06.20 and higher, and I can't find anything on MOL about how to get a radio up to R01.06.20. Any help would be...

XTS2500 TG decode for Smartzone/Omnilink system
All - I'm using an XTS2500 Model I to scan a local Smartzone/Omnilink Type II Hybrid system by programming the tower frequencies as conventional P25, then scanning them. This works a treat for scanning all talkgroups. I'm also trying to unmute only on specific talkgroups, by programming the tower fr...

Re: XTS2500 Q883/Q574 and P25 conventional
Thanks for the reply! I just figured it out - it wouldn't let me set the ASTRO tx only because I tried to do that before setting ASTRO rx - it now works fine. I'd jumped to the conclusion it was to do with the flashcode.

XTS2500 Q883/Q574 and P25 conventional
All - I just got hold of an XTS2500 800MHz which I was hoping to use for P25 conventional. The flashcode (actual in the CPS) is 100018-000488-9 which Akardam.net decodes to: D12 B1 Q806 Q806 ASTRO IMBE Digital Operation D8 B1 Q883 Q883 3600/9600 Interoperability/Mixed Mode Signalling D7 B4 H38 H38 S...

Motorola MTX8250LS problem with LTR system
All - I was wondering if anyone can help with this odd problem. A few weeks ago, we started having problems with some MTX8250LS radios we use on an 800MHz LTR network - most of the time when you press PTT they are not able to secure a repeater and give a bump beep as if no repeater is available. How...

XTS5000 CPS - can't change frequencies, PROG doesn't show up
All - I have two strange problems using XTS5000 CPS 12.0.0. First, there is no "General" tab to change the frequencies under conventional personality - I can FPP and change all other options, but can't access the names for frequencies in the CPS. The second problem is I put "PROG"...

DTR CPS reports firmware is too old
All, I just got a couple of first generation DTR410 radios from a dealer at a discount. I hoped to program them withe the Motorola DTR CPS, but both the 1.0 and 2.0 versions of the CPS available for download at the http://motorola.com/dtr say that the firmware in the radio is from an older version, ...

M06... radios like MCS2000
All,
I just got hold of a mobile radio with model number M06UCN6RR7CN, FCC ID # AZ492FT5758. It looks like an MCS2000, but I thought all these started M01... Any idea what model of radio this is?
Thanks!

Programming call (emergency) button on PR860
All, I'm trying to program my PR860's (very similar to HT750) so that when you press the orange call button on top, it transmits some kind of alarm or beep (similar to the call button on FRS radios). The obvious way to do this seems to be to send a DTMF tone, but I haven't figured out a simple way o...

XTN Series Companding
All, I'm using a couple of XV1100's a narrowband MURS frequency (151.82) and want to program my HT1250 to work on the same frequency (at low power, narrowband). Does anyone know if companding is enabled on the XTN series, and if so if it is compatible with the companding on the HT1250? I haven't man...

Re: Cp 200 question
Wow this really helped me - I have an ht750 16ch UHF that I thought was dead - was getting the low beep on power on which I thought was an error tone - but on trying this tip I realized it was stuck on channel 16, a receive only channel! Thanks for the tip. The next question is - where does one get ...
