Re: What was your first /\/\otorola radio?
My first Motorola radio was a Maxtrac UHF 6 channel I picked up off flea bay dirt cheap. With a little work and help from here it is 32 channels now. I still have and use it long with quite a few others.

I am a member of my local CERT group and I have been asked to try and find some quotes for a mobile or portable repeater in the VHF hi band. The local EMA does have frequencies available. I have a CDM750 low band that will not turn on or off with its power button, change channels, or transmit or receive. the CPS reads it fine and I do get a good tone on power up. It is a Hacked codeplug to get it to work. Somebody hacked my codeplug for me and sent it back. It worked great and the radio works great. I need to compare the old and new codeplug files to see what was done so I can do it myself next time.

for gmrs a dash mount spectra or even a maxtrac would work quite well. there are only a few gmrs frequencies and a 32 channel maxtrac would do that easily at 40 watts. a 15 amp power supply would handle that easily.
