I have an MSF5000 analog station and the SCB has laid down. I have a digital SCB and am curious as to the level of difficulty of swapping the boards to get the repeater working again.
Does anyone have any experience swapping the analog SCB to a digital (CXB) control board?

Re: gr1225 UHF amplifier
I have successfully added TPL 100watt amps to 2 GR1225s. They work fine and provide the in-building coverage I need now....heavy in-building coverage. The key is a really good set of filters/duplexers and quality jumpers. If you are using mobile (reject/reject) duplexers, you can hang it up. I agree...

Re: low pass filter - rptr location
I have a little experience with a site that has 800 and UHF at the site. There are two 800MHz frequencies that are exactly 5MHz apart. When they are both transmitting with one of my UHF repeaters, they mix and the sum of the signals equals the input of my UHF repeater. This doesn't so much cause des...

Re: Odd Voice Pager Format
The last post sounds like the paging link frequency and sounds like POCSAG. Motorola used to make a Keynote voice/numeric pager that operated using the GOLAY format. That may be what you are hearing in the first example. It's been sooo long I don't remember what it sounded like over the air. It has ...

Re: Dumb question - XTL2500 vs 5000?
The only reason we ever purchased 5000s over the 2500s was encryption, and the 03 HHCH. Otherwise, for most people, the 2500 will work just fine.

Re: Upgrade of firmware xts5k question
Most importantly, if you aren't having any known issues, then don't upgrade the firmware. I have experienced the wrath of poorly written firmware with undesired effects with 15.00.00 and the XTL O5 heads. I ended up with a couple of dead control heads before I realized the firmware was the problem. ...

XTS/XTL v15.00.08 - issues
Has anyone noticed some quirky issues with the 15.00.08 firmware? I have several XTL5ks (O5 head) that are running 15.00.08 that exhibit issues with the talk permit tone. In some cases the talk permit is not heard when the PTT is pressed. Other XTL5ks (O5 head)that are used as data modems are now ex...

Re: MSF5000 Secure station - can't read or write codeplug
Thanks for your thoughts!! I am using the 6 pin version from Polaris. I believe the same cable has been used to program the station, but I am not positive. I checked and re-checked the pinout, but maybe I will do it again. I wish I had the 50 pin cable to try, and I guess I could make the connection...

MSF5000 Secure station - can't read or write codeplug
I have a VHF MSF5000 secure capable station that work just fine. Well, except that I can't reprogram it. I have a working RIB and good cable, but cannot read or write to the station. The RSS times out and tells me to check the connection to the station. Any ideas? It's a great repeater, and I hate t...

I am not sure of the configuration, but it usually takes a few...4 or 5, to get them up and running.

Re: Can 800 MHz cause intermod to VHF?
A1EMT, Here is a link to the free intermod calculator that I have played with. It is called Passive RF Intermod Calculator. The download link for the program is at the bottom of their page. http://www3.telus.net/PassiveRF/ I wish you the best of luck getting your repeater in operation! P25 is pretty...

Re: Can 800 MHz cause intermod to VHF?
Q - don't IM calcs mean that interference is possible, but not guaranteed? Without a mix point, the product is not created. At busy sites, and/or poorly maintained sites, the probability increases, it becomes a consideration, but should it prevent new service from constructing? Bill, I will give yo...

Re: Can 800 MHz cause intermod to VHF?
The answer is yes. 800Mhz can cause problems for you, and just about anything other set of frequencies as long as the math adds up. I have a site that will never support a UHF repeater that uses a 5MHz offset because of offending 800MHz transmitters are 5MHz apart. 860.7125 - 855.7125 + 460.300 = 46...

Re: MC3000 audio question
I have an MC3000 sitting on my desk, and I know that I can turn it all the way down. There were no internal pot adjustments made when they were installed, but not sure about the programming. I will read my radio on Monday and see if I can shed some light for you. Along the same lines, has anyone els...

Re: Quantar Installation Tips
KT, The common sense things, of course.... Pre-assemble and test every cable, power connection, filter, station settings...the works. I re-tuned a mixed-mode Quantar yesterday that had drifted +3.8K from when the new P25 SCM was installed a month ago. The repeater still repeated everything, but was ...

Re: XTL5000 powering down when keying mic NEW PROBLEM
The problem is the secure board. There is a bad cap on it. I think there was a TSb floating around for the fix. FSB10223b That FSB covers high power 110w drawers. I suppose it is conceivable that it is still an issue with a mid power drawer, but I don't recall any notes for that configuration. The ...
