Thanks, I knew there had to be one, just don't know what/where to locate it, I already know to use the fedsig park-kill module, today I was referred to an upfitter/installer who should know the answer, I plan to call him next week.

battery is nmh...
if mic is hung up in clip when car is started, radio will not unmute and vol level lights won't illuminate till mic is removed from hangup clip just once. mic has those contacts on hangup button. hangup clip is not grounded.

well that explains the battery discharge, so what's the purpose of rx only when the ign is off?
any idea how much draw would occur if i wired the yellow to battery also?
and any soulution to the hung-up mic and muted audio after the car is re-started?

if they don't have to be exact replicas of california area lights, try mcdermott lights in ridgewood, queens ny, they make the 'riser' light bars unique to nypd highway patrol cars, and make super bright halogen lights in both par 36 and 46.

wig wag for tahoes

newer tahoes should not have any splices into hdlights/brakelights/revlights because of the computer and/or tranny. add a standalone flasher system using halogen bulbs installed into the hibeam headkight housing close to the hibeam bulb. nova and able2 make a system for this application.

no, the radio is hi split uhf..i should note that i am only having problems with modes that are programmed as stand-alone simplex modes, not the 'DIRECT' side of a repeatered mode.

i've discovered my mcs2000, though the display indicates the selected mode is a
'<->' (DIRECT) freq and the TRANSMIT light illuminates, will not transmit on the simplex frequency.

yes, there are convertacoms in use, mostly in HIWAY patrol cars, it's a personal preference for installation....there are pallets 6ft high at radio repair of defective ones waiting to be dumped.

if money is the problem, save it till you have $20-25 for a tridon flasher, at least that will give you an even, consistent flash rate. otherwise, the 537 is for amateurs.

well, if you want your emergency vehicle's warning signals to look amateur, go with a 537 thermal flasher where 1 side stays on longer than the other and cycles from fast to slow. if not, go with a modern flashing system.

though AVA will not accept high cap battery, BATTERY ZONE makes a high cap battery in a medium size, rated 1800ma- i checked it on my conditioner, it's actually higher, something like 2100 or 2200ma's!

yes, there is a wide thumbscrew, the diameter is bigger than the 'O' in the batboard heading at the top of these pages, i have them on all my stuff, can't remember the part #. call parts id.

astro saber speaker mics

a regular (non-public safety) speaker mic will work on both saber and astro saber; only an astro public safety mic will work on an astro. 2 pins are reversed from the saber pin config.

he's not looking for an antenna for an fdny handie talkie because they are vhf, and the current handie talkies are saber 1's. occaisionaly you see an mx. someday they may re-issue the uhf xts3500. maybe.
