Re: GMRS/FRS Radio Question

The GMRS/FRS combos with 22 channels can put out 2 watts on the GMRS channels. So, if you have 2 Motorola GMRS/FRS radios transmitting at 2 watts on a GMRS channel it doesn't matter if you bought the one that says 10 miles on the pack or paid more for the one that says 28 miles on the pack. The rang...

GMRS/FRS Radio Question

I have a question about how the different GMRS/FRS bubble pack radios are marketed. I am well aware of the differences between those and commercial quality GMRS radios with repeater capabilities. What I don't know is what criteria is used by the manufacturers (including Motorola) when they advertise...

The plastic Secure/Non-Secure toggle on my Saber II broke into pieces on me. I need just the plastic piece. I am still able to use it by grabbing the metal piece that is left. How/where can I get a new one? Can it be replaced easily from the top of the radio or does the case have to be removed? Than...

An even bigger implication....Vertex has been the main competition for Moto in public safety. NYPD has pretty much abandoned M in favor of Vertex in the past couple of years. So, is Moto saying if we can't get the contract...we'll buy the company that did? Wow.

Printing a Codeplug From DOS RSS

Is it possible to print a codeplug from DOS RSS (ie; Saber, etc.) with a printer that is connected via USB cable? I know the DOS software will be looking for a parallel connected printer. It is just a convenience issue for me, not critical, but was wondering if anyone found a way to do it.

Re: Saber II programming questions

The Saber has mode-slaved scan. When you're in zone 3 you can only start scanning the channels you've assigned to scan under zone 3. In each channel setup you assign the channel to a scanlist. The scanlist runs under a zone, zone 1 runs scanlinst 1, zone 2 runs scanlist 2, etc. etc. After you assig...
