Re: MCS2000 power up with no head
I have a European MCS2000 MR504A M01RHM9PW5BN with a remote head kit fitted (the RHK is passive; you can see the radio's internal connector for the CH). The control head and cabling is missing. It powers on fine with just the emergency link, but beeps and whimpers because it can't see the Model II c...

Wiring ignition sense to input power should do it.

Re: Yaesu betting on C4FM for AR
The Fusion handhelds are kicking around... FT1XD isn't bad. I've played with mine on C4FM but mostly I end up running it analog (it has a very nice FM tuner, per Yaesu) because the infrastructure isn't there. You're right about DMR pretty much taking over, at least in the UK/EU.

Re: 146.52 channel elements
If you don't mind ordering internationally, QuartSLab may be able to make these. The key would be knowing what the crystal specs are, unless QSL already know them.

Looking for GM900 / MCS2000 service manual/schematic/PCB layout
Hi folks, Does anyone have a service manual which contains a parts list, circuit diagram and PCB layout for the last revision of the 10W UHF Closed Architecture Controller Board in a GM900? The PCB carries identifying part numbers 05574X11, 258Y02 0, 8905566X04 A, 8905567X06 A, 8905568X05 0, 8905569...

Re: Motorola CDM1250 Dead Short
I'd say either faulty diodes (poor quality / counterfeit) or an electrical system fault on the vehicle causing excessive power spikes on the radio's power supply.
Bad or dying vehicle battery (which would have a high resistance and possibly allow the voltage to float higher with the engine running)?

Radius GM900 (MCS2000 variant) crashes after programming - any ideas?
Hi folks, I have a pair of Radius GM900 UHF units on the bench, both type MR503B, model M01RFK9AN3BN. One has a black serial number label, the other white. Unfortunately the unit with the black label (304IWG serial number prefix) has a fault... When I program it with DOS RSS, it'll read or program O...

MCS2000 installation manual (need voltage levels for audio I/O)
Hi, Has anyone got a copy of the MCS2000 installation manual going spare, PDF or paper? I'm trying to find out what the specifications for the voltage levels on the audio input/output pins are, and the difference between MIC IN and EXTERNAL MIC IN, and when they're used to modulate TX audio (or are ...

Re: Motorola GP680 - GP380 Flashing Problem - HELP!
You need a slower PC with a physical serial port. Lab flashgrade is really finicky. Too fast or too slow and it just won't work. USB serial ports won't work at all. Try different PCs.

Re: MCS2000 - possible to run without control head?
I've just checked -- the radio has actually got an accessory connector plugged in, and it has the emergency and internal speaker jumpers in place. I didn't notice it because it looked like a chassis blanking plate... then I noticed it was possible to pull it out... If I wanted to do anything with th...

MCS2000 - possible to run without control head?
Hi, I've been given an MCS2000 model M01RHM9PW5BN, which is (as I understand it) a UHF 403-470, 25W, with Model II control head (1x14 display and rotary knob). Sadly, sometime in its life the radio was upgraded with a remote head kit, and both the head and cable are now missing. Is it possible to po...

How to legally obtain MOL access / CPS
Hi there, I've just become the proud(?) owner of a UHF DP4800, a pair of Impres batteries, USB programming cable (official Motorola, even, still in the bag! :o) and Impres charger dock. I'd love to get this little beauty on the DMR-MARC network, and I even have a DMR-ID for it. The problem is, the f...

Re: Memo Express (product family 723) test mode
Interesting write up Phil, thanks! What all are you working on with these pagers over there? Enlighten us :) I actually didn't have much of a plan! It just looked like a fun project -- I built up a POCSAG encoder from an old Motorola GM340 VHF and an ST Nucleo board, and I've just been trying to ge...

Re: Memo Express (product family 723) test mode
Okay, quick answer -- I still have no idea what the test modes do or their official names, but mode two appears to lock the receiver board on. Mode one definitely leaves the receiver board power cycling on and off at some rate I couldn't be bothered to measure (other than "razzum-frazzum the bl...

RTL1005A: what is RTL4062A test jig for?
Hi there,
I've just picked up an RTL1005A radiation test jig, which came with an RTL4062A adapter.
Does anyone know which pagers this is intended for aligning, or whether I could use it to align a Memo Express (product family 723) running an AARD-series VHF receiver board?
Thanks
Phil / M6OFX

Memo Express (product family 723) test mode
Hi all, Does anyone have a copy of the Product Family 723 (Memo Express et al) service manual to hand? I've been trying to find a copy but it's proving very very difficult. I can't even find a part number for it (though admittedly I don't have MOL access, so maybe it's on there). What I'd like to kn...

Re: Looking for pager crystal supplier
I've just ordered three crystals for Memo Express pagers with AARD series VHF rx boards from QuartSLab. They had the specs for the KXN6300AA series on hand, and just needed the frequency and crystal equation (e.g. Fxtal = (Fcarrier – 17.9MHz)/3) I'm just waiting on the crystals, they should be arriv...
