On that end - if you find some beat up accessories with the military connector - you have a good 50/50 chance they were built with the solder-on pins and you can effectively harvest the connectors with minimal effort or damage. I have some H250 handsets elsewhere otherwise I'd pull one apart to veri...

Re: VHF QUANTAR PA 125W HAVING PROBLEMS

Well without getting to detailed - the TLD3101 and TLD3102 PAs were the same minus the built-in circulator and some resistors that make an "ID" for the module. The service manual shows the resistor IDs for each split, and the circulator was available via Motorola for less than $270 last ti...

Re: Activity Beeps generation

Interesting.I know the "channel hold open" can be on conventional as well, but you'd hear audio over it as well not just a dead channel.
I've heard beeps come from simulcast, tone remotes, voted receivers, etc... but never like I said on a dead channel.

This is a fun mystery.

Not sure what exactly you're mentioning - but I am used to hearing the "channel hold tone" when a console or emergency button is depressed and "locks" the trunked system to prioritize that emergency talkgroup. You'll hear a periodic beep until the emergency is cleared.

Look up the W9CR Wiki and he describes the resistor changes for changing bands. On a side note if you're interested in selling it - I would be possibly intereste...

The new Hondas (along with some other manufacturers) are using Direct Cylinder Injection (VW/Audi calls it TFSI, etc) - which means usually the spark plugs needing a LOT hotter spark to ignite - hence the coil-on-plug. Not too sure with the 2018 CR-Vs, but my 2015 was noise hell with that design - a...

Well for one: The XTS3000 CAN do P25 trunking with a specific firmware version and feature set. That might help with some of that. IIRC the firmware version is 06.72.00 and that can have P25 Trunking added. However at that point you might as well grab a surplus XTS5000 off eBay for $120-150 and save...

Interesting note, but you can actually program legacy radios like the Jedi and Astro series all the way up to Windows 10. It just has to be a 32-bit version of whatever OS you want to use. Not a bad choice - I have a nearly identically loaded 2947 and 8920A and usually pull the HP out to use more often. Mostly because parts are more readily available and I am less afraid to thus damage it moving it around. Only downside to the HP is I haven't figured out how to do DPL encode for some ...
