Re: Li-ion
Does anyone know if Astro Saber will run with no damage on x2 LI-ION cells at 8.4 Volts ? On batlabs astro page, I read that it should run at up to 9V, but it don't know if this is a cutoff absolute max. I mean, perhaps the extra volt will cause the pa stage to run too hot or some similar effect. I ...

connector
For some time now, while messing with an Astro Saber accessory connector, I have had to make do with a piece of board with soldered-on tiny strips of copper. One can buy programming lead off Ebay, but these have just 2 pins . Does anyone know where to buy spare pins or all full pin connectors ? than...

Re: Li-ion
If the saber power circuitry can take the x2 Li-ion max of 8.4 volts, then maybe there is no need to reduce the voltage. Possibly sabers have a supply regulator that can take this max. If it cant, then rather than a resistor, perhaps a small linear regulator inside the battery case will do. The volt...

Li-ion
Has anyone made a saber battery by fitting two 18650 li-ion cells inside a used battery housing? Will the slightly higher voltage, 3.6 to 4.2 V each cell, matter much ? I was looking at what looked like a good buy of x2 Panasonic 3400mAh cells for $ 18.7 and liked the potential http://www.fasttech.c...

Re: DTMF
Ok guys, thank you for your answers. I wanted to know if an Astro Saber can control an ArgentData simplex repeater that uses DTMF tones for control. I have had , lets say, encouraging results with double vocoding. For my purposes, even if double vocoding works (reasonably well) on a simplex repeater...

Re: DTMF
Ok. Well then, if I may ask, is it possible to press a "dtmf" key on one Astro Saber and have that same tone come out of the speaker on a second similar radio, while on P25 ?
Thank you for replying.
Thank you for replying.

DTMF
Though I had a pair of astro sabers for some time, I am just getting started playing with them and P25.
I hope its ok if I ask a stupid question or two.
Its not possible to send dtmf tones with an Astro Saber 3 while in digital mode is it ?
Thanks !

Saber, Wideband to Narrowband
Does anyone know if it is at all possible to convert wideband Sabers (25/30 Khz), to narrowband (12.5 Khz) operation ?
Should not be too difficult on transmit (deviation), however the recieve filters might present a problem.....
Anyone else been down this path?

Thanks guys, like I said I'm learning the ropes here. Ok, but if the radio can do both bands , what's the point of having 2 splits? ( R and S). Maybe it can do it but there is some trade off, like spurii or RX reduced sensitivity. You guys can tell me if for the same model (VISAR) J=136-162, K=146-1...

Can anyone tell me if the 4 the Position of the Standard Model Number System for VISAR radios, stands for the freg. bands, in this fashion: Q=403-437, R=438-482, S=470-520 ? I have seen guys selling R models, and claiming the radio is 403-470. Is this a messed about with radio, or can it do this ban...
