MT1000 questions

Very sorry if this was answered previously on here, but the search didn't yield the results I need. Thinking of buying a used MT1000 in VHF-Low. This is for my part-time job's area. The deal is good, and I think I found a convertacom for it already. Will the MT1000 do MDC1200, and will it do Select-...

Re: code3 xl domes

XL domes are all the same size. The dome is also the same for the center, just with the addition of dual metal plates on the ends, as opposed to an end cap lens.

Re: Federal Signal RUMBLER

Now that we have the Rumbler on the new truck, I like it. It definately makes people pay attention to you. Inside the ambulance (a Chevy 4500 LifeLine) is remarkably quiet, even with both sirens and the rumbler in operation.

Re: Code 3 2100 lightbar

I know most 2100's dont have head sync capability, but I believe that patterns on the individual heads are changeable. My thought would be to change up the patterns on the heads to avoid dark time.

I don't knock anything till I try it. I'd love to seriously thrash a Sprinter and see what it can really do. I have heard nightmares, as well as love stories. I hope Ford can fix it's issues, but I understand nothing is forever.

Sprinter in a J-turn? I'm there!!!

The E series is not "going away". There's the possibility in the 2008 model, which will be a totally redesigned chassis, that the older 6.0 diesel will be ressurected. Chevy 4500. Nuff said. Unfortunately, there isn't the production capability at Chevy to meet the damand, as yet. Maintain ...

Educate yourselves on the chassis issue with Ford through your ambulance dealer, or through a Ford dealer. Are you sure the only thing with that will fit is a Ford? What headroom are you using? (68 or 72"?) A Chevrolet 4500HD in 2 wheel drive with 68"headroom is only 1 inch taller than our...

Don't be too over-zealous in drilling. Be careful, and go slowly. I have had cracked housings, which isn't fun. In agreement, I prefer the flange mount. Higher power handling, less fall-outs, and less leakage. A couple extra steps in installation, but I think it's worth it.

I have noted that in some older code 3 sirens, the amp board can almost sound like it's going thru puberty. This was especially true with older SVP sirens. I am used to the Code 3 wail, but what you report may be an amp board issue. Code 3 Tech Support could run the serial and tell when the unit was...

Try just about any emergency vehicle dealer. Look on a mfr's web site, and search dealers. Try Pierce, E-1, Wheeled Coach, Life Line Ambulances, etc.

Can't find info on this radio....

I'm sure this will be obvious and easy for someone on here. I am looking for info on a radio that Motorola made, probably 15-20 years ago. It was a med radio, looked like a suitcase-briefcase, and I want to think it was a Micor. The one my company had was in a white case. Any info or pics? I didn't ...

I have a 1998 Ford Expedition, with the full center console, and rear heat / AC blower. Has anyone seen a console that will fit in it's place, and still have the factory blower and stereo controls? Another option, instead of diabling the siren function, may be to find a different switch panel, like a Federal SW400, (slide switch with 4 rocker switches), or a Code 3 V-Con Halfpack, which is only about an inch tall, and has a terminal strip in the back - instead of flying leads. The Code 3 has a...

Another common thing that Jay G. said was isolating the left and right headlights. otherwise, the flasher will get really confused, and try to flash and override itself at the same time. I usually use the Code-3 7 series flashers, as they can be easily replaced or removed if neccessary. they have ex...

Rule of thumb that I use in specing ambulances is 4.5 amps for each motor/bulb combination, given a 50-55 watt bulb. Each pair of flashers usually uses 1.5-2.5 amps, depending on incandescent or halogen bulb, respectively. Arrowstik, 4-8 amps, figure around 8 when all lights are lit. depends, too, o...
