I hope somebody can help. I have an MTX-9000 with the freq range of 896mhz-941mhz. When I read the radio there is an 896mhz and a 935 mhz freq already in the radio. (I bought radio used)
When I try to input 927.*** Ham Freq, it gives me the following error in upper rt corner: Freq is not in ranger 935.0125-940.9875
I tried using the HEX editor, not sure exactly what to change... the radio is supposed to be progr to 927 freq??
Can Anyone help or give me some suggestions??
Thanks & 73,
Sean

- What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000
The correct FCC bandsplit from the factory for a 900MHz Jedi is:
896-902MHz TX 935-941 TX and RX
It won't do continuous coverage of the 900 band. A GTX is better suited for that than an MTX9000/Jedi.
the radio has a HI and LO VCO. (one for TX at 902 and one for TX and RX at 935-941).
you won't be able to use it below 926 without serious degredation on RX, the stripline filters are too narrow (one of the reason why the radio works so well in it's intended bandsplit).
you should not have any problems with TX on 902. but some Jedi's are better out of band on 900 than others, I have a late vintage MTS2000 that kicks butt on 927/902 and one that is older that does repeaters but no talkaround on 927 (the VCO unlocks and gives a FAIL 001). You can forget the 916/918 stuff. No go with this radio.
as far as entering out of band freqs, well covered on the main batlabs page under model specific information, MTSX series. there are also several threads about Jedi performance on 900MHz if you use the search tool.

When you hex edit per batlabs, find ALL instances of 935 and change em to 896, find ALL 901 and change em to 940.
That should do it.
If that doesn't work, PM me with the ver of software you are using.
Then you will be able to program accross the range, but as mentioned, the VCO will only go so far into the ham bands, and it depends on the indiviual radio. Put it in the fridge for worst case senario, or warm it in the sun for more Ham coverage.
