I would not be asking if it were just DES-XL

Are you sure it's a NTN5715B? I can't find any reference to a NTN5715. MOL shows that NTN5714 and NTN5716 are iDen parts.

I'm sure he has the part number right. I think he's just trying to avoid explaining his Fascination with them. :D

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer. Even if they are currently OK finding the means to load them would be the real challenge.

"F" for funny encryption

Post by Dan562 »

MM.

You're going to be hard pressed to find the Funny encryption KVL. I don't know what it looks like but it uses a funny round Canon type connector. I thought I read that the Funny encryption mode was being declassified by the U.S. government. So far I haven't found anything officially published about declassifying this Funny encryption mode. But it doesn't surprise me and I'm not laughing about it.

Yeah, I'd say it's a good idea not to use the F word around here.

10-95 I think has the best story though.

Get rid of the thing man! Nothing like seeing your name on a memo to the FBI from the NSA.

It's bad news, trust me on that. It won't matter that you don't have the means to program it, it's still bad to have . I won't ever forget my experience.

I already know about keyloading this module..KYk-13 or a kol-8.
They have to be run through a sib to the radio.
I think i will grind it up and add it to my gold scrap box.
Those chips have good gold content.

Thanks for the advise.

Even if the underlying technology has been cleared, there may still be inventory control procedural issues. Once you stamp those three little letters on an item, it is probably pretty difficult to get it properly released into the civilian surplus market, rather than having to destroy it.

MM,

I began to think back when I saw a new infrastructure system being staged and tested in /\/\ CCSi Bay about 1.5 years ago for a federal customer. Which means the feds are still using that form of encryption. I knew the /\/\ account rep who sold the system but I don't recall where it was being shipped too (city).

Frank is correct, get rid of it as it will cause more problems than it's worth to you personally. Why people allow this type of equipment to migrate into the surplus market is beyond my way of thinking.

Yea one of the many sites I went to after a Google search. I even found one that has a great discription of key lengths and format.
