Weekdays, when on the job (running a computer shop/consulting) - main operations include calling the shop, listening for incoming pages, and occasional phone patch use.
IN the shop: nothing - all rigs in chargers
OUT of the shop: Pageboy II, secure analog Saber I VHF, 110w VHF MCS2000 model II (in car)
Weekends, stuff I use for screwing around and/or when at home.
Simplex, messing around: HT440/90s (all VHF), HT600/MT1000s (some VHF, some UHF), any other odd stuff I may have handy
In my other POV (the van): 45w VHF Maxtrac
Pending Upgrades: I will soon be replacing the Saber with an otherwise similar Astro Saber (slowly migrating the shop to Astro as cheap gear presents itself). May also be replacing the Pageboys and associated encoder with Advisor Gold pagers and a POCSAG encoder soon.
If the local guys who want to put a 2M repeater on the air actually do it, then I may just have to get my ticket and expand my hamsexy array of portables to include some with DTMF
In fact, during my senior year, I had the last two hours of the day for school newpaper lab (a slack-off class for all but five days out of the month). I brought in a bunch of P110/GP300s and a P1225 (at that time my best portable), and told the guys and gals to use them as they saw fit.
I'd been pusing the kids all year to be less passive by saying they should 'walk around like they owned the place'. None of them ever did - until they got those radios. They all snatched them up and started playing radio tag throughout the building! The principal chased them around a bit, but ended up walking away scratching his head when he saw that our rigs were better than his
Another high-school radio story: during my last few years I did a little after-school consulting on the side. One of the places I worked for made all their employees (and me, too) carry a Minitor around at all times. At first I left in on and in my pocket, and it was quite funny (to me, anyways) that first day when they toned out the pagers in the middle of a history lecture!
It was especially fun when one particular guy was working at that place - he had an odd sense of humor, and was known to hold whoopee cushions up to the mic and key it for all to hear.

I don't bother carrying a prep since there are 1000 other nerds standing around at any given time carrying one or more. Minitor II has been sitting in the charger amp for over a year. Quattrino pager sits in the charger too.
I got a milk crate full of preps but I haven't turned them on in a long time.

I owned a beat up high band HT200 while in high school (mid eighties guys. I ain't that old) which fell out of my back pocket cracking diagonally across the battery compartment. You New Englanders seem to be obsessed with being an "EMT"; I am not trying to start fire with anyone but it seems that an "EMT" on the east coast is like being a "Paramedic" in the midwest and west coast. Is it a pain in the *** for you guys to get your medic?
Out here, Paramedics seem to separate themselves from being an EMT. I never did quite understand it since in Michigan, everyone is technically an EMT. Its just that you get to add "Paramedic" or "Specialist" (Intermediate for some states) after the "EMT" part. There is an unwritten dividing line though (here). If you aren't a 'medic' then you are crap. In my midwestern perception, if you are an 'emt' on the east coast, you are an accepted ems personnel. Out here you would be talked down to which obviously is crap. Never have I understood the unwritten law about that. I started as an EMT when I was 19 and I still work as and EMT-S now, 26 (part time of course; I couldn't possibly live with the monies EMS pays!!).
I myself have been through medic (92% on the final) but never cared to take the state exam; I don't have intentions on being a professional ems caretaker or to be a fulltime FF (You pretty much have to be a Paramedic to get a FF job in Michigan and then you get to work as an 'ambulance driver' at your full-time FF job...lol). Realistically I lost interest halfway thru the course and only finished it to get some more college credits. Its too bad that the 'EMT' doesn't get squat for respect out here.

Car has Spectra 800 (our County is way cheap, and out of date), we should have kept our old 460 UHF system, Motorola has been working on our trunked system (and bilking our taxpayers) for 10 years and it still sucks, so called "public safety grade" system is worse than a crappy
cell phone. Wind blows, or snows and zone controllers start dropping like flies, and sites go down all over the place. Had an earthquake a few years ago, only the pagers worked =(
State Patrol was smart, kept their VHF system, and now that all the suckers sold out to 800 MHz, they have all the band width they need to themselves!

At work I have to carry a POS HT750 VHF, and an I 205 nextel...supposedly we are going to get xts 2500 800's this july...which means dispatch can hear even less of us.
Off duty and when I play firefighter:
VHF HT1250 or VHF Saber 3
UHF HT1250 or UHF Saber 3
those are dependant on my mood that morning...
in the CVP

VHF and UHF Spectra A9
No need for lowband here as the only thing left on it is some school buses...
If this 800 system improves and I can convince the county Com. Director I may get 2 800 Astro Spectra's and an 800 AS 3...all would have to be P25 capable...but I am holding off and waiting to see what happens...the SD has been on the 800 for a year now and they always are going to the patrol car and getting back on the 400 to have the important conversations...I think the cell phones get better service than the statewide 800.
Oh yes, in the house I have a minitor 2 VHF w/amplified charger, a VHF Spectra A5, and a radioshack scanner.

FD issued VHF Minitor V and my 16 ch. MT1000, also have a JT1000 that stays at the house most of the time. I have a couple other MT1000's in VHF hi/low and UHF, and a bunch of MT500/HT220 stuff as well.

What I carry
For use at radio shop: HT1250LS+ on our passport system
For use on the RR: Either an MT1000 or a King EPH5101A (This one lives in my truck)
For hammy things: AN/PRC127 (All my King accesssories fit)

Work 1: Add EF Junk Viking portable.
Work 2: Add MT1000 or Uniden brick portable, as well as EFJ.

Add Glock 30 with second clip, Peerless hinge cuffs, and Surefire 6p as situations warrant, and I feel they usually do.
The Expedition has a Kenwood TK730 dual remote head, mobile charger for P1225, and looking to switch to Motorola Mobile maybe. Kenwood TM241a 2m, mod for CAP. Uniden 16 ch scanner and oodles of emergency lighting.
