Spectra Unmute issue

Post by wb4bsd »

the radio will not unmute upon rx'ing proper PL.

i must keep the monitor turned on so that it hears everything, even non-PLed stuff.

mic hook is properly grounded.

i would think it was in my programming, but DPL works perfectly.. TPL is the only thing giving me problems..

radio issue?

programming issue?

Yes failure to decode PL and unmute are sort of common.
I have seen this before in Spectras, been fixing them ever since they first hit the streets in the late 80's.

Is this another time-bomb capacitor effect, or is it something different?

Rusty & ThaBronx1,

You will need test equipment besides a service monitor or signal generator.

It can be in several places or 'stages' on the RF board or on the Command board. And the "time-bomb capacitor effect, " quoting kcbooboo, can cause this problem.
