GTX HT problem...

I have a working GTX HT that works well but only some of
the time. Half the time, for some reason, the audio doesn't
"open up" when a signal is received. Banging the unit on
the table edge sometimes, but not always, cures the
problem. The only thing I've done is to remove and reset
the speaker and mic connection to the Board but that didn't
seem to help. The problem occurs with both CSQ and CTCSS reception.

All ideas welcome. I need help on this.

Check the speaker mike jack on top. If you plug in an extrnal speaker mike when you lose the local speaker audio you'll find it again via the external speaker mike. I've dealt with several intermittant problems with GP300's P110's etc.

Makes sense. Thanks. I'll mess with the top jack to see
if that's the source of the problem. I know when the problem
is going to occur, and I know that it's in the audio path because
the test beep doesn't sound when the problem happens, or doesn't
start, depending on what you want to call it.

I think Sparks is on the right track, but if not I'd look at the flex that connects the logic and RF boards. It can be dislodged at either end during handling.

So far the lousy spkr/mic jack seems to be the culprit. With
the mic plugged in I can't duplicate the problem. I use 900 only
at hamfests anyway so I'll live with having the thing attached
to the radio when I use it.

I sure didn't want to have to dig into the mess involved in
changing the jack assembly.
