MTR 2000 And Argus Backup
Ive got an mtr2000 on a site with a Argus battery backup.
Is there any reason I cant run two MTR's off this backup if both are turned down in transmit power and the amperage draw between them is below the rating of the Argus?
Ive got space issues at the site.

I'm currently specifying that configuration right now. My issue is that Im running the ac power supplies and just using the Argus as a backup. Im seeing in the manual where this might not be a good idea. The 24 volt lines of the power supplies would be tied together always.
Running DC power supplies with rectifiers and battery are the way to go. Im dealing with a legacy site right now and need to be creative.

I'm curious about the MTR's and battery backup. I have two VHF MTR's 100Watt and both seem to charge the batteries just fine without the Argus equipment. Am I being "fooled" somehow by the equipment, or do high power stations charge their batteries while low power stations cannot? Very Curious!!

The stations do not provide a charging circuit. What you have is a direct link to the 12 or 24 volt section of the power supply.
The manual says not to connect batteries straight to the station. Im not sure what harm that would do to the station if any.
You may just be overcharging the battery.
Motorola says to use the Argus Battery Revert system they spec'd so thats what we have done in the past. We will be using DC supply's on future stations that need backups...

Can anyone post part numbers for the 12v and 24v Argus Modules?

Motorola Numbers #L1883 For 12v systems
#L1884 For 24v systems
The battery cables have a PN also but I dont have that here. Sounds like you have them already though.
From the manual-
"DO NOT connect a battery directly to the station. Damage to batteries as well as to the station may occur.
"These systems were developed specifically for this interface and tested by Motorola for proper station operation."
You can only get these through Motorola. Argus wont sell them direct.

I just looked on MOL and the 24volt argus has been cancelled and the 12volt argus didn't even show up. Anybody know of any other part numbers?

#010-519-20 Argus number for the 12v
#010-523-20 Argus number for the 24v
Argus would not even talk to me about them last year.
We just ordered a 24v model last month. I hope this isnt a precursor to Motorola ditching the stations.
When I get to the shop later Ill look up our invoice.

Try L1883A and L1884A They show as valid when I just looked them up.
