NTN1153 vs. NTN1368?

Hi,

I have ordered two modules NTN1153, but I got NTN1368. Now it looks that they do just securenet, but no DES-XL in P25 mode. Is it true that the NTN1153 would be able to do DES-XL in P25, or would it be the same problem with those?

In case NTN1153 really would fulfil my wishes - anyone out there who is willing to sell two of them to germany? Or even better the ones with DES-XL and DES-OFB?

Problem solved.

Of course I can use XL in P25, and even have to with those modules.

Finally I made it work also in P25; seems to be a bug in the CPS. Some of the channels that had been programmed into the radios without being secure equipped did not allow to activate the secue options. Deleting them and entering all the data from scratch made it work, with identical settings. Strange...

Really? P25 allows XL or OFB, depoending on the hybrid.

You can use -XL in the digital mode....it just won't be "P25" compliant. The -OFB would be the "P25" compliant.

When we ordered our Astro Spectra's, that question came up as we were going to stay analog for a bit. All our XTS's had DVP-XL, and we didn't have money to go and replace them all. So, DVP-XL all the way around...and it worked.

Hi Guys,

If you have a DES-XL ONLY or DES/DES-XL module in a P25 radio, it will allow you to use -XL in P25 mode. If your module has -OFB in it, it will NOT allow the use of -XL in transmit (tho it WILL decode it!).
Also, if you have a channel set up in dual-mode (analog and P25 receive), it will force the radio to P25 encryption even if it is otherwise set up for analog.

Out here, the BP folks were using DES-XL in P25 for quite a while before they got all their new AES stuff online..

My pair of XTS5000 also allows transmitting in DES-XL when enabling this in CPS. They can talk to my Astro Sabers just fine with this setting.

The XTS-5000 will allow the use of DES-XL encryption in P25 CAI mode, even when DES-OFB is available in the module? That's interesting - I've never played with an XTS-5K, so I guess it's different. In my XTS-3K and Astro Saber/Spectras, if you have -OFB in the module, P25 can no longer use the -XL mode. In analog Securenet, you can only chose DES or DES-XL, of course, as DES-OFB doesn't work with Securenet.

Yes, it does. I have DES, DES-XL and DES-OFB available in those radios. OFB is not decoded on my Astro Sabers, but when setting the XTS5000 to DES-XL in P25 mode they can talk in both directions just fine!

guys, just FYI - any of the XL variants will work in ASTRO/P25 mode... as stated above, it's just not compliant with the APCO spec...
