The MW-520 and it's internal GPS receiver

Well I finally got my external GPS antenna for the internal GPS receiver in my MW-520. I installed Microsoft's Streets and Trips 2006 and started playing around with it and the only way that I could get it to see the GPS receiver was by going under the tools file and going to GPS setup. Can this program be configured to automatically load and start the GPS receiver when it's opened? BTW, my receiver occupies com port 2. Also, does the GPS receiver automatically start and operate when the MW-520 is booted up?
