It seems that you can't, for info there are mics for the saber, and system saber as well as the astro saber mobile adapters.

Re: Saber AVA Microphonoe
A long time ago, I tried a saber display mic on an AVA with an astro saber inserted- the radio made some funny noises and showed nothing on the mic. However, a saber display mic on an AVA with a regular analog saber1/2/3 worked fine.

Re: Saber AVA Microphonoe
An AVA with a late model analog saber will work fine. The saber just has to have the antenna plunger hole by the accessory connector. Matter of fact it says so on the label.

And older radios can be (carefully) drilled out to allow room for the plunger pin. I did that on a pre-1994 Systems Saber and it worked in a NTN7227D AVA (with a Saber display mic, no less) just fine.FireCpt809 wrote:An AVA with a late model analog saber will work fine. or find the elusive beast, and have the right firmware radio to go with it.
