MW-800 Cold weather problem - FIX

Post by Pj »

Found this today on MOL...for those of you who can't get the MW to boot on a cold morning, there is now a FSB out on it.

Its FSB10176, and according to data support, its free labor, and may have to pay for the heater flex (small cost I believe). So, just send it in.

Text of the FSB:
FSB NUMBER: FSB10176A
APC: 736
DATE: Mar-08
EXPIRES: 31-Mar-09
BULLETIN TYPE: Warranty Service

SUBJECT: MW800 Mobile Workstation may not turn on when cold

F5207A - MW800 W/40GB HD

SYMPTOM:
If a MW800 Mobile Workstation is in an area where the temperature is cold and drops below the temperature that
is programmed into the CPU codeplug, the unit will not power up. The default setting in the MW800 codeplug is 6
degrees C or approx. 43 degrees F. Once the MW800 Mobile Workstation warms up above the temperature
threshold, the unit will operate normally.

CAUSE:
A defect in the heater flex of the unit that will not allow the hard drive heater to turn on in order to keep the
temperature above the threshold setting in the CPU codeplug.

Mine came back from the depot the other day.

New flex, new HD, new firmware, some shields. All (and labor) covered under the FSB.
