Dayton 2009, who's in ??

Post by MT2000 man »

I know this is kinda late to start a Dayton thread (considering it starts in a few weeks), however I just wanted to get a basic headcount to see who will be going. I'll be in KY on the 14th, then heading back to CT the 15. I figured I could make a stop at Dayton on the way back.
So, who's going to the 2009 Dayton Hamvention ??

Good to see a few members going 8) I'm going to try my HARDEST to go, as for I'll be passing through Ohio anyway, and I'll probably end up purchasing my ticket at the door. Depending on if we are making good time or not, I'll do my best to make it. I've yet to go to Dayton, this would mark my first year  It will be good to meet some of you guys face to face !

For the most part everyone is on 151.88 nac 293.

I don't think anyone is ever on the UHF channels...

I will be out there this year, but am not planning a dinner or any other events... If someone whats to set something up I will do my best to attend... Work has me busier than usual.

unfortunately i wont be able to attend this year but hopefully next year. i like the updated frequency use list to include P25 no the common channels, good choice for consolidation.

Just a heads up but if anybody is staying at the Econolodge in Troy OH you might want to check your rooms. On my pager tonight is says there is a 2nd alarm fire in that motel so I don't think it's going to be back open in a month. Could be wrong but you better check.

I've reservations at *A* Econolodge, but it's the one down south, not up north.

If it is the one on Edwin Moses Blvd next to the McDonalds... find somewhere else to stay. The place is a DUMP and it was a pretty crappy neighborhood.

Really, come on guys, the area around Edwin C. Moses and 75 isn't THAT bad; I mean, people don't get killed there EVERY day.

Makes you feel so much better right??

That would be the one. For a Brooklyn boy he doesn't have much of a spine... lol

Dave, seriously. You may want to look for other accommodations. I don't skeeve out that easily, and that place made my skin crawl.

Are you saying the place I indicated is the same place as has been under discussion, or are you saying that while it is a different place it too is bad?

OK, so, any suggestions for a one-night stay (Friday night)?

You can sleep in my back yard, pretty safe, except for the wild critters.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

Same place.
Looks like I am SOL - I tried to pick up somebody else's reservation as they canceled it, and it went *POOF* as soon as he let go.

What about the place is troublesome to you - anthropoid room companions, semi-hourly rates for the locals, or what?

It cannot be as bad as the place I once stayed where I found a metal spoon, with a wooden handle, and a crystalline substance in the bowl of the spoon in the medicine cabinet.
