Antenna Specialists - ASP268 - Cutting chart needed

Post by evanh »

Does anyone happen to have a cutting chart for a low band Antenna Specialists model ASPB-268 mobile antenna?

More specifically, ASPB-268

I need the rod cutting length for 42.5 MHz withOUT spring

Thanks,
Evan

I don't have a cutting chart, and no luck finding one with teh google for you. One thing I've done to teach guys how to whittle on rods without ruining them was to practice with a steel coat hanger. Cut off the hook part, straighten it out, a little judicious scrubbing with sandpaper to clean off the enamel, insert, and look at the wattmeter. Then trim the top until you reach the lowest vswr. Now trim the real rod to the same length. For longer rods, I crimped two lengths together, and trimmed to the uncut length of the original rod. Saved a lot of time and hassle.
