Quantar important part numbers
Since there seems to be enuf confusion on the matter, I am going to submit this list to try to help those of you out there who are trying to ID the band/range on used quantars.
As you know (or should know) - all quantar repeaters are labelled with "T5365" - this is the generic model # - and short of reading the codeplug, there is nothing obvious to ID the band/range.
USA Quantars come in the following flavors:
VHF Range 1 - 132-154
VHF Range 2 - 150-174 (these do work in the ham band down to abt 146)
UHF Range 0 - 380-433
UHF Range 1 - 403-433
UHF Range 2 - 440-470
UHF Range 3 - 470-494 (100w max)
UHF Range 4 - 494-520 (100w max)
First clue:
Receiver module front panel....
800/900 units have NO TUNING HOLES
UHF units have THREE TUNING SLUGS - but usually have FIVE HOLES (look closely) - only the middle three holes have slugs in them to turn
VHF units have FIVE TUNING SLUGS
the above lets you tentatively ID the unit and determine if more exploration is required before your wallet comes out!
The easiest way I have found is to look at the rear of the unit and get the part number off of the PA. It is usually visible without removing the module. There are two different numbers you may encounter - the parts used during the factory build - and - if any modules have been replaced with FRU's (Field Replaceable Units) - you'll see a different part #.....

Ok, so you couldn't find a number on the PA, but you could on the exciter? Cool.... But to make matters even more confusing, the manual references a THIRD part # for the module in the "factory option matrix" - at least one of these (CLD1260) - crosses to the TLN3251 in MOL...so the CLXXXXX numbers below are relevant to this post....but most do NOT cross in MOL. I think i have previously posted my take on the quantar station control modules....there are enuf of those to elicit an hour or two of work trying to figure out what each is capable of.....
all of this is pretty much moot if you can power up the station and read the codeplug.... but i'm sure someone out there can use this list.
i'll update this later with some info on power supplies, Astro Modems /V.24, etc.....

The only # someone selling a UHF Quantar could give me was CAEWYG081F from the back
of the exciter. They said they saw nothing on the back of the receiver module.
Does this mean anything to anybody?

Yeah, it's the module's serial number. They all have them, everywhere and on everything. Some sort of new coding system.

It's been deleted. Remove it and the two screws and plug your cord directly into the PSU.

It had some weird issues with a certain combination of modules and their versions (age), so it was eliminated. Ya just gotta remember to push the AC cable out the back plane prior to slamming home a new PSU. Then it'll be big time OOPS.

Yeah. I can see where that would be a problem. We are staging a new system originally planned to be 48vdc. But, the customer had to trim the budget, deleted the charger and batteries, and we had already received the dc stations. We are swapping out the dc ps modules for ac, and I would love to make the backplanes factory, but doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Backplanes are all the same. It's only the different dohookies that are screwed on or plugged in. Did you get reverting PSU's or plain old's?
I'd leave the DC cable in them and tied up. If reverting's were provided, you can install batteries later when they figure out what value they'd bring to the table.

Nah. Plain old. No batt backup. I voted to install 48V supplies in the rack in anticipation of a future "system upgrade", but got no where. Mine is not to question why ...

Then I'd leave the Batt cables tie-wrapped up and walk out. Should good sense eventually appear, they're available.

Boy these were a pain in the ass to find:
DC Cable: TRN5155A
DC Cable to Quantar PS Adapter: 3084989T03
Suspect you don't need to shell out $100 for the TRN5155, just the anderson power poles, some cable, and the fuses if you really feel the need.

I've got quite a few of the 'unknown' part numbers (like the Velcro strap thingy one of our guys snapped) but am on vacation at the moment. Will scan my notations, but don't know how to post them here.

Yep and actually I don't even think there is anything too special about TRN5155 cable except maybe the fuse? Power Supply fan.
Here is the part number for the power supply fan: ADDA Fans AD0912HB-A73GL-LF
This is the 92 mm X 20mm fan with the tachometer leads.
Onan power supply 3-70506-0000 Mot# 01-84906T04.
The integrated circuit thermistor in the Onan power supply is a Honeywell TD5, Digi-Key Part Number 480-2017-ND
About 2100 ohms with a 1.55 voltage across it at 90 deg. I have photos.
