Minitor V Alert's but no voice?

Post by attack650 »

My fire company purchased these pagers a few years ago and now have about 5 pagers that will alert but no voice. Also I noticied no matter what setting I have it on (A,B,C or D) I have to push the reset button to hear the voice. Not sure what to do. Any imput would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Have these pagers ever passed voice? Do you have the capability to verify programming?

Yes they worked fine for a couple years no problems, its just recently that there is no voice. I dont have software to verify programming.

Or possibly a procedure change causing a longer delay & resetting the pager before the voice message?

They are probably dropping the carrier between the tones and the voice announcement now, thus making the pager reset before the voice is heard if the pager is programmed that way.

Guys unfortunetly out county does not drop the carrier on dispatches, so that is not the problem. Again, the pager will alert and the only way I can hear the dispatch is if I hold down the reset button.....

VERY common problem with the Min V's. Send them back to M for repair.

I think the problem here is the carrier squelch is not opening up (unmuting) as it should. I've got a few SV models that will alert and receive audio while the squelch is being held open by the SV, but then revert back to silent. They'll receive traffic if the squelch button is manually pressed.

Is this warrantied on all Minitor V's (even if warranty is expired)?

Does anybody know what the actual fix is for this problem, without sending the unit in for repair?

Thanks!!
