MX300 AA Battery Mod

Howdy folks. Was hoping to find info on the DIY conversion of the MX300 NICAD pack to take Alkaline primaries or NIMH rechargables. Have heard this is a fairly simple mod, but before surgery with the dremel, would rather measure twice and cut once. Any tips would be very much appreciated!
