We are going to pick up a new service monitor. Main reason is to add DMR (MOTOTRBO) subscriber testing.
I'm looking at the R8000B at $17,000 or an Areoflex 3920 at $32,500 with the MOTOTRBO options (the R8000B has a special on right now wither the MOTOTRBO option is included).
We may add a couple more options, but we already have a couple monitors with tracking generator and P25/SmartZone options.
I suspect the new monitor will be mainly a bench unit with the odd MOTOTRBO repeater site visits.
I was interested in any feedback on either unit.
Thanks in advance

Re: GD R8000B or Areoflex 3920
I haven't used the latest version of the R8000, so take that into consideration. I'm very happy with the 3920, and so are my colleagues that have them. I think in this case, you're getting what you pay for.

I have used R8000A for one year and it sucks, tracking generator is very slow,no duplex either for DMR.I work for the state now and we use 3920,excellent piece of equipment.

Agreed with most above. Our shop has one 3920 and I have not used it much personally but it looks good. I am running th R8000B and it has some improvements over the A version, however it is still very slow and at times locks up inbetween setting adjustments. But for a lightweight field unit it has his plus's!
