XTL 5000 (O3) intermittently powering off.

Post by Restech »

Hi,
I have noticed in a few of our installs of XTL 5000 (O3) UHF radios with the remote head (Running Firmware 16.00.01) that they will intermittently power off. This becomes a problem when the operator is unaware and after a period of time they wonder why they have not heard any transmissions, only to find out that the radio has turned off.

The radios are powered up with constant 12V to both red wires at the back of the radio, located in the boot. The remote head is on a control cable in the front of the vehicle. We can not pin this down to a finite time after power on, or a high or low temperature as the reports from the operators show that this will occour intermittently not dependent on time or temperature.

However, once the operator notices this they are able to power the radio back on using the power button on the remote head. In some instances they will receive the "FL 01-90" error, so we have suspected a loose/faulty control cable or power issue, but have not found either to have a problem once it comes back into the workshop.

Thanks in advance,
Anthony.
