Can power up time on XPR6550's be shortened?

Post by cruzinlow »

From turn on click to "accessory connected" tone, it takes nearly 8 seconds for the XPR6550 to be ready for use. Did not see anything in programming software to change this. Turning off/deleting radio name under General Settings did nothing. Hoping someone may have figured it out.

Nope, it is what it is & nothing you can do to change it.

Think of it in terms of computers.

HT1250=DOS. Fast boot up, less functionality

XPR radios= Windows xx, slower boot up, more functionality.

A long time ago I made peace with myself over the fact that with faster computers and advances in programming, boot-up times became longer and longer. Radios just follow suit.

If you get to use an XPR7550, you'll be wishing it was as fast as a 6550 because they take even longer!

Wait until it boots as slowly as your new LTE cell phone....
