MCS2000 Model III Remote Mount Kit Question

Good afternoon.

I have a MCS2000 Model III radio and I have obtained the H1635A Remote Mount Kit for it. My question is - how do I enable the remote speaker that plugs into the 2-pin AMP connector on the remote cable? I'm assuming I need to jumper something in the 25-pin accessory connector, but I'm not sure which pins. The remote kit came without documentation.

A diagram I found on the BatLabs page said that Pins 1 and 2 need to be jumpered for the programming cable, but do I need to do that as well to enable this speaker? If not, which ones? There are no wires near the chassis connector which might be speaker leads... Anyway, I tried Pins 1 and 2, and then Pins 2 and 3, but no audio comes out of the speaker in either configuration.

The radio originally came with the desk mount kit (similar to the HLN6045, with a speaker installed) and it was connected to Pins 1 and 3 of the accessory connector... I don't think I want to jumper these, or I'll blow up the audio amplifier. Or have I already done that??? (Gawd, I hope not...)

On the plug that came installed in my remote head MCS2000, pins 1 and 2 are jumpered. There is also a jumper from pin 4 to pin 9. If I pull the plug out, the speaker quits working, so I assume one of these jumpers makes it work. It is not a model 3 head though, I think it is a model 2 head.

Pin 1, & pin 3 go to the speaker. Make sure you do NOT ground either pin. GARY

Yes, Pins 1 and 3 go DIRECTLY to an external speaker, but the remote mounting kit has provisions wired into the cabling for a remote speaker as well, as evidenced by a pigtail with an AMP connector matching that similar to the Spectra remote speaker connection. Initial indications I was getting were that Pins 1 and 2 need to be connected to make this work - I'm trying to make certain of this. I fear that I may have already blown up the audio amplifier during experimentation... <sigh>

Pins 1 & 2 get connected to activate the internal speaker for a type 1 radio. But since type 2 & 3 radios have no speaker, pins 1 & 3 get connected to the speaker. GARY

Pins 1 and 2 are jumped together inside of the option connector. You then connect an external speaker to the speaker connector on the control cable.

Oops - i forgot to mention to all interested in this thread
that Motorola has a part Number HKN6127A called a
"Renegade Cable Assembly", that is a cable about 10 or
11" long with the 2 pin audio molex connector on one end and
the necessary DB25 Accessory pins on the other end which
makes it real easy to add that to the DB25 Accessory connector
if your model 1 internal speaker is not enough for your liking.
The pins would be mounted in the DB25 Connector in the holes
for pins 1 and 3 and then the connector re-assembled and then
connection to an external speaker is easy.
