re: Compu-pork
I'm there occasionally. Great place to play and hook up when I don't want gobs of antennas hooked to my radios and amp during static storms or other paranoia-inducing times.

We have echolink and IRLP on a repeater in my area. I find echo link to be more busy interms of connections since most people use computers all the time they seem to play more with echolink so we get a lot of random connecctions.
I don't know if it's up/down or what now that we have IRLP, but I do know we silenced who connects when, as well as disabled other countries with the exception of the US and Canada connecting.
The worst thing about echo link is that people FORGET they are talking through a repeater. We have people connect, call CQ, and have another echolink user get back to them. This converstations go on forever unless someone disconnects them. It's not the nicest thing to do - but I don't want to listen to two people talk in foreign languages over our repeater when they can just sit there and talk direct.
Sigh.
Oh well.

re: echoecholinklink
HEY... never thought of that. <kerchunkin'>
Considering a link with our local dead. (the tower of silence) so maybe some guys in Italy who live 4 miles apart talking on our repeater might drum up some biz... Besides, nobody bought my VHF 2channel M120 in mint condition so it will now have a purpose!
>>ALEX,
Forgive my ignorance, what is IRLP? Internet repeater link protocol???
Never heard of such..?
info? fills?
thanks!

IRLP:

Internet Radio Linking Project I think is what it stand for... I forget what our node number is tho. I've talked with Yosh a couple times through our node. It's pretty cool to be walking through the mall and talking with someone in colorado about the weather there
I don't know what's required to run a reflector - but I have access to the bandwidth (mmm... OC-3) at the site. So we could in theory run one, but from what I hear the folks at IRLP are kinda anal about people running reflectors, but having a batlabs one would be cool....
